2009 Site-Specific Targeting Program Underway

Site-Specific TargetingOSHA’s Site-Specific Targeting program will focus enforcement efforts on nearly 4,000 nursing homes and manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities. The program is based on 2008 illness and injury data from an OSHA survey of 80,000 employers that have 40 or more employees. It will target worksites with particularly high rates of days away from work, restricted work activity or job transfer (DART), or days away from work, injury and illness (DAWII).

Unlike previous years, this year’s program will establish a minimum injury and illness rate for each of the three groups, rather than using one rate for all establishments:

  • 3,100 manufacturing establishments with a DART rate of 8 or more, or a DAWII rate of 6 or more
  • 500 non-manufacturing establishments with a DART rate of 15 or more, or a DAWII rate of 13 or more
  • 300 nursing homes or personal care facilities with a DART rate of 17 or more, or a DAWII rate of 14 or more
