One of the ‘next big things’ in the training industry is the use of ‘assessment tools’ to determine the extent of an employee’s knowledge about a particular topic, then customize their training to address only the things they don’t know. This has obvious advantages for employers, since it minimizes the amount of time that an employee is away from their normal work and engaged in training, while it provides employees with the information that they need to fill in their ‘knowledge gaps’.
MARCOM’s training courses have always had ‘pre-test’ capabilities. This in itself is a type of assessment tool, which allows employers to determine if an employee has enough total knowledge of a safety/regulatory compliance topic to ‘test out’ of a course entirely. MARCOM’s new assessment tools take this concept much further.
With CourseWorks 6.0 trainers can now create tests that can assess an employees knowledge of the information that is provided in each segment of a course. This will allow employees to ‘test out’ of individual segments within a course instead of having to test out of the entire course itself. Based on the results of these ’segment assessments’ CourseWorks® will then reconfigure the course for each individual employee so that it contains only the segments that address areas where the employee needs additional knowledge. This makes CourseWorks and MARCOM courses unique in the safety and regulatory compliance training industry, and make the time employees spend in training extremely efficient by focusing on only those areas where the employee’s knowledge needs to be increased.
