Osha Safety Programs Welding Shop by Marcom March 18, 2008
Welding is the process of bonding pieces of materials or metals together with the use of heat, pressure, or both. People have been doing welding various forms from several millennia. Welding, like any other industry poses potential safety and health risks to employees. According to OSHA, around 500,000 workers receive minor to fatal injuries while performing welding operations, which sometimes results in death. To protect workers from welding related injuries and to comply with OSHA regulations, companies are required to organize Welding Equipment Safety trainings annually. The training programs provide detailed information to the employees about potential dangers associated with welding operations, health and safety precautions that are necessary while welding.
Some of the most common types of welding processes today are:

Arc welding, which includes “stick” or shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), the gas-shielded methods of metal inert gas (MIG) and tungsten inert gas (TIG), plasma arc welding (PAW), and submerged arc welding (SAW). Other welding processes are oxy-acetylene gas, electrical current, lasers, electron beams, friction, ultrasonic sound, chemical reactions, heat from fuel gas, and robots. All types of procedures pose potential health and safety risks from fumes, gases, sparks, hot metal and radiant energy produced during the welding work. Welding and cutting equipments, which may produce high voltages or utilize compressed gases, also require Welding Cutting Safety awareness and training for their own safety and others.
MARCOM’s Welding Safety training and Welding Cutting Safety training products teach and remind employees of the numerous hazards associated with welding, and provide the information they need to work safely when involved with welding operations.

This is what actually I was looking for. Many folks are very much interested in welding works but very few talk on safety program. I will keep in mind MARCOM’s Welding Safety training.
