Work safely with Compressed Air Gas August 14, 2010
Compressed gases and cylinders can be hazardous if it is not used, handled or stored properly. Special precautions have to be taken while working or transporting compressed gases and cylinders. Compressed gases cylinders pose a big threat as it can contain dangerous gases that are Flammable, Explosive, Corrosive and Poisonous. To prevent injuries and accidents, the Industrial Compressed Gas cylinders must be clearly identified and color coded depends on what type of gas it contains. Details of type of gas have to be mentioned on the cylinder and it have to be easy in identify, don’t rely only on color. Also, it is necessary that the gases have to be stored separately, mixture of gases can sometimes result in big blasts or poisonous air. Always shut the regulators/cylinder valves or keep it is sealed when it is not in use. Also, do regular inspection in order to safe operation.
Compressed gases are used for various industrial operations, so it is extremely necessary for industries that their workers are well trained.
The Compressed Gas Safety training covers these interesting topics:
- Type of compressed gases and its characteristics
- Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety Precautions
- Knowledge on hazards
- How to store/transport/use/maintain compressed gases
- Other precautions
The Compressed Air Safety Video is designed to train workers about the hazards of working with compressed air and compressed air powered tools. This video covers various video clips of working with tools, using compressed air in the workplace, and proper protection when working with compressed air. This video even covers a few accidents that happened due to negligence. Practical training with compressed gas cylinder is covered under these training programs which demonstrate proper handling and operating procedures, how to identify leaks, etc. The training program also covers discussion on the problems workers face while storing and transporting cylinders at workplaces.
The purpose of this training program is to make workers cautious while working around compressed gases and cylinders for their own safety and others as well.
