Construction Safety

Employees in the building and construction industry face numerous hazards every day, from working with hand and power tools to exposure to hazardous chemicals. The type of materials used in a construction site also  plays a big part in occupational hazards, such as Asbestos and Formaldehyde by-products. According to the Labor Board and the US Census Council, there were 5214 occupational deaths reported during 2009 in the building and construction field. The investigation also states that there was a total of 3.3 million reported cases of non -fatal occupational injuries or illnesses. Because the rates of these occupational hazards are so high, OSHA’s   “target industry" is building and construction.
