Workplace discrimination is when an employee is treated unfairly based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin or disability instead of job performance. Also included under discrimination is reprisals for reporting violations. Almost everyone can agree that discrimination has no place in the business world, but not everyone understands the laws that protect employees against discrimination.  Whether discrimination happens by accident or deliberately, the company could face very stiff penalties and other consequences. In order for a company to minimize discrimination claims in the workplace, the company needs to train all of its employees, as well as install a no tolerance policy.
