The most common cause of “Occupational Hearing Loss” is acoustic trauma from loud noise. Approximately 30 million Americans are exposed to High Intensity noise in the workplace on a daily basis. Over 7.5 million Americans will suffer permanent hearing loss because of overexposure, and lack of safety equipment. NIOSH and OSHA created the standards for “Occupational Exposure to Noise “(29 CFR 1910.95)38 This regulation states employees are only allowed to work a specific amount of time while being exposed to different levels of high intensity acoustic noise. Our "Hearing Conservation and Safety" training products have been specifically created to assist facilities in understanding the calculations, and complying with OSHA's revised Hearing Conservation Standard. Topics covered in these products: How our ears "work", Types of hearing damage/loss, Common causes of hearing damage/loss, Potential effects of hearing damage, Noise avoidance and hearing safety practices, Selection and use of personal protective equipment, and more.
