- DISAB1010 FREE AND APPROPRIATE PUBLIC EDUCATION “FAPE” (English) (14 Min.)
- This program was developed for school districts to understand the law and how to prevent lawsuits stemming from violation of this federal education law. The topic “expert” is an attorney, S. Paul Prior, whose practice includes bringing litigation against school districts for violation of the law, related to children with disabilities. He uses his legal experience and knowledge to list the steps schools can take to avoid lawsuits. We have determined that parents use this video and information to obtain free and appropriate public education for their child or children who happen to have disabilities. One of the primary mistakes schools make is not including parents in each step of the evaluation and classification of their children. Parents feel one way, schools the other and the next step is to get an attorney involved, which means both sides lose.
